Unser einzigartiger Planet Erde
Unsere Erde ist von der Sonne her gesehen der dritte Planet im Sonnensystem. Unter den neun Planeten in unserem Solarsystem nimmt er von der Größe her den fünften Platz ein. Mit dem gesamten Sonnensystem bewegt sich unsere Erde mit einer Geschwindigkeit von ca. 20,1 Kilometern pro Sekunde (das entspricht ca. 72360 Kilometern pro Stunde durch den Raum auf das Sternbild des Herkules zu. Die mittlere Entfernung der Erde zur Sonne beträgt 149.503.000 Kilometer.
Die Erde ist der einzige bekannte Planet auf dem Leben möglich ist, auch wenn andere Planeten eine Atmosphäre und Wasser aufweisen. Auch hat die Erde keine absolute Kugelform, sondern ist an den beiden Polen abgeplattet.
